How to Set Up Square Payments for WooCommerce with Syncy

To start accepting payments through Syncy – WooCommerce Square Sync and Payments, you need to configure a few essential settings in both your Square Developer Dashboard and WooCommerce. Follow these detailed steps to set up payment options, ensuring smooth transaction processing and a seamless customer experience.

Step 1: Obtain Your Application ID from Square

  • Log in to Square Developer Dashboard: Sign in using your existing Square account credentials.
  • Select the WooCommerce Application: From the list of applications, choose the one you created for WooCommerce Sync (e.g., “WooCommerce Sync”).
  • Copy the Production Application ID: In the application settings, locate and copy the Production Application ID. This ID links your WooCommerce store to Square, enabling payment processing.
  • Go to Syncy Settings: Navigate back to your WordPress dashboard and open Syncy > Settings > Payments.
  • Paste the Application ID: Paste the copied Application ID into the designated Payments Application ID field. This step is essential for authorizing the payments integration between Square and WooCommerce.

Step 2: Configure Your Payment Options in WooCommerce

  • Set Up Payment Methods: Go to the Payments Settings tab within Syncy and choose which credit cards and digital wallets you want to accept (e.g., Visa, MasterCard, Google Pay, Apple Pay).
  • Customize Payment Title: Set the Payment Title to determine how the payment method will appear to customers at checkout. For example, “Pay Securely with Square” can help build trust.
  • Select Environment Mode: Choose between Sandbox mode (for testing) or Production mode (for live payments). The Sandbox mode is highly recommended for initial testing to ensure everything works correctly before enabling live transactions.

Step 3: Set Up Your Access Token and Location

  • Access Token Configuration: Make sure your Access Token is correctly configured by visiting Syncy > Settings > General in the WordPress dashboard. The token allows Syncy to securely interact with your Square account, enabling payments and data syncing.
  • Select Your Square Location: In the same settings, choose the appropriate Location that represents your physical store. This ensures that all payments, inventory, and orders are correctly linked to your Square account. Selecting the correct location is crucial for managing both inventory levels and payment flows effectively.

You’re Ready to Accept Payments!

Once you’ve completed these steps, your Syncy integration is set to accept payments. You can securely process transactions via a variety of credit cards, as well as popular digital wallets like Google Pay and Apple Pay. This setup not only simplifies the payment experience for your customers but also integrates directly into your existing Square POS system, ensuring a seamless flow of data between your online and physical stores.
