Odoo WhatsApp business integration lets your team send quotations, sales orders, purchase orders, invoices and delivery updates to customers on WhatsApp directly from the Odoo record one button, no copy-paste, no switching apps. The customer gets the order ID, amount, and item list in the channel they already check dozens of times a day.
Email open rates sit in the low twenties. WhatsApp messages get opened. If your order confirmations and invoices are going out by email and quietly ignored, moving them to WhatsApp is one of the cheapest wins available to a sales team on Odoo.
Our WhatsApp integration module is free, open source, and runs on Odoo 11 through 19. Here is what it does and how it fits your workflow.
What can you send from Odoo?
The module adds WhatsApp sending to the Odoo modules your team already lives in. Every send carries the relevant record detail automatically, so nobody is retyping an order number into a phone.
| From | What the customer receives |
|---|---|
| Quotations | Full quotation detail, sent the moment it’s ready while the customer is still deciding |
| Sales orders | Order confirmation with order ID, total amount, and line items with quantities |
| Purchase orders | Order detail sent to the vendor, so procurement stops chasing by phone |
| Invoices | Invoice detail and payment information, delivered where it gets seen |
| Delivery orders | Shipping and delivery updates that cut “where is my order?” tickets |
| Contacts | Custom one-to-one messages — a birthday note, a check-in, a document link |
Each of these sends with a single Direct WhatsApp Message button on the record, or as a custom message you edit in a popup before it goes.
One click, or your own words
Two sending modes cover the two things a team actually needs.
Direct message uses a predefined template populated from the record. A rep clicks the button on a confirmed sales order and the customer gets a clean, consistent confirmation order ID, amount, items, quantities without composing anything. Consistency across a team of ten reps, for free.
Custom message opens a popup where the rep edits the text before sending. Same order context, but room for a personal line “Thanks for the repeat order, shipping today.” The personal touch that keeps a customer, sent from inside Odoo.
Both modes are available across Sales, Purchase, Invoicing and Delivery once you switch on the Direct WhatsApp Message setting.
How it connects
Setup is deliberately light. You link your WhatsApp by scanning a QR code from WhatsApp Web the same quick pairing you already know and Odoo can then send from the record forms. There is no lengthy onboarding and no separate messaging account to provision before you send your first message.
Because it rides your existing WhatsApp, the number your customers see is the number they already have saved for you. Replies land in your normal WhatsApp, so the conversation stays in one place rather than scattering across tools.
Sending to several customers at once
Some updates need to reach a defined set of customers, everyone whose order shipped today, say. From the list view in Sales, Purchase, Invoicing or Delivery, select the relevant records, open the Action menu, and choose the WhatsApp option. Each customer gets their own message with their own order detail not a group blast, but individual messages sent in one operation.
One practical note for best results: keep WhatsApp sends relevant and expected order updates, invoices, and messages to customers who know you, rather than cold marketing to people who never opted in. Relevant, one-to-one messaging is what keeps your number in good standing and your delivery rates high. Used this way, WhatsApp is the most reliable customer channel you have.
Sharing documents over WhatsApp
Beyond order records, the module adds a WhatsApp option to Odoo’s Share action. Pick a document, choose WhatsApp as the share method, add a short message and the customer receives the link. Useful for sending a spec sheet, a signed quotation or a product catalogue without leaving Odoo or dropping into email.
Messaging from the Contacts app
The Contacts app gets a WhatsApp icon beside the mobile number field, visible whenever a number is present. Click it to send a one-off message to that contact the account manager’s channel for the small, human messages that don’t belong on an order: a thank-you after a big purchase, a festival greeting, a quick “are we still on for Tuesday?” These are the touches that turn a customer into a repeat customer, and they take five seconds from the record you’re already looking at.

Where it fits and where it doesn’t
A strong fit if you want your sales and operations team sending order-related updates to customers on WhatsApp, one to one, from the Odoo records they already work in quotations, confirmations, invoices, delivery notes, and the occasional personal message. For a team that wants WhatsApp sending live this week without a procurement project, it’s hard to beat free and open source.
Look at a larger build if you need automated, high-volume campaign messaging thousands of scheduled marketing messages, chatbot flows, or a full customer-service desk with multiple agents routing conversations. That’s a different class of system, and it’s a custom Odoo development or integration conversation. We build those too, so if you outgrow one-click sends, the next step is a discussion rather than a dead end.
Getting set up
- Check dependencies. Sales, Purchase, Inventory, Invoicing and Contacts should be installed.
- Install the module from the Odoo Apps Store.
- Enable Direct WhatsApp Message in Settings – this is what makes the button appear on the record forms.
- Add WhatsApp numbers to your customer records in Contacts. The send needs a number to send to.
- Pair WhatsApp by scanning the QR code.
- Send a test from a draft order to your own number before going live with customers.
Step 4 is the one teams forget the button does nothing useful until customer WhatsApp numbers are in Contacts, so make populating them part of the rollout.
